I was off over Easter, so it was really nice. Happy to be home with my family and my four children. My wife blogs very often about our family. Maybe you want to read our blog?

  3. Hello Ingmar!

I have worked both on the local high school (5 years) and now a private school. The private school I work at now is much less students per class, which means that I have much more time per student. Satisfaction is also very high at JB high school when we teachers have a closer relationship with the students and probably can motivate them more. I have more teaching at the private school if, contrast with a public school. Which means I have less time to make the information and correct now, but on the other hand, I have less students. There are simply two sides of the coin.

I understand the debate about private schools can charge a profit, I think is wrong with all profits should be invested in school, so there's a lot of equipment and high teacher salaries. Unfortunately, teacher salaries low in Sweden.

    How is it in Australia?

  4. Interesting to read about your experiences on the private school. I guess you are right , there are both positive and negaative things.

  5. Yes, you can twist and turn to these issues. Not so easy to solve. But the student's best interests must be at the center. I am also thinking of the CRC(barnkonventionen) on child rights in society. Positively that so many countries have signed it.

    Has Australia signed the CRC?

  6. Hi Thomas

For Vocational Education we have a number of groups that we refer to as "providers". These are: the public providers that we refer to as TAFE; the other public providers we refer to as VET in Schools; then there are enterprise providers; and private RTOs.

TAFEs are the largest providers of VET with about 2/3 of all VET. This is for people who have left school and are aged 15-70+. VET in schools in also mostly public and is offered as an option for students along with general education subjects. We do have some private schools that offer VET as part of their offerings. Enterprise providers are large organisations (such as McDonalds) that have a training component to their organisation and they offer nationally recognised qualifications at their work. And finally private providers are being encouraged by the government and they can be as small as 1 trainer, or very large and their students are adults. All of these groups offer nationally recognised qualifications.
