Photo 7

This is the completed staircase. This gives young tilers the opportunity to practices tiling a staircase in our facilities. It's a very challenging and rewarding project for our Apprentices.

    We have 19 units of competency in Certificate III wall & floor tiling. It covers varoius types of wall & floor tiling as follows: tiling Curved surfaces, Decorative tiling work, Swimming pools and spas, surface preparation, bricklaying and plastering, Commercial work,complete waterproofing for wet areas, basic concrete work, mosaic tiling and many other generic units. kind regards Enzo

    It was nice to take part in the process of making the staircase.
    What are the criterias for the theachers to assess the work of this staircase? Which are the critical points?

  4. Hello Jorgen,

    The critical aspects of the staircase tiling are the height of each step must not vary more than 5mm of height, must be plumb, level and square, accurate face alignment and joint consistency. Minimal small pieces and parallel lines, all cutting to be done neatly, solid bonding of all tiles and smooth grout finish. kind regards Enzo
